Job Title: Environmental Project Manager

Position Overview:

We are seeking a highly experienced Environmental Project Manager to lead a portfolio of environmental projects focused on industrial and retail petroleum remediation. This individual will oversee technical teams, manage client relationships, ensure regulatory compliance, and drive successful project delivery from inception through completion. This role is ideal for a driven professional with a strong technical background and a proven track record of managing multiple concurrent projects.

Key Responsibilities:

Oversee a diverse portfolio of environmental projects involving industrial and retail petroleum sites.

Manage and mentor a team of technical staff including field personnel, scientists, and engineers.

Act as the main point of contact for clients, managing relationships and project expectations.

Provide senior-level oversight and expert input on project scope, technical direction, and deliverables.

Evaluate subsurface conditions to support remediation system design and regulatory strategy.

Lead project planning, budgeting, scheduling, and resource allocation.

Conduct and participate in performance reviews and project team meetings.

Ensure the preparation and approval of technical reports, regulatory documents, and other project deliverables.

Monitor and ensure compliance with New York State environmental regulations, especially related to UST/LUST programs.

Conduct and oversee Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments.

Requirements:

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Geology, Environmental Science, Engineering, or related field.

8–10+ years of progressive experience in environmental consulting, specifically in investigation, remediation, and management of retail petroleum and/or industrial projects.

Hands-on knowledge of Underground Storage Tanks (UST & LUST) and New York environmental regulatory frameworks.

Demonstrated ability to manage 20–40 active projects concurrently.

Proven experience maintaining long-term client accounts through excellent service and communication.

Strong skills in technical writing, regulatory reporting, and document review.

Experience in Phase I/II ESA, remediation system design, and regulatory negotiations.

Excellent organizational, analytical, leadership, and team collaboration abilities.

Must be capable of working under minimal supervision and solving complex technical problems.

Professional certification (PG, PE, CHMM, etc.) is a plus.

Must pass a drug/alcohol screening and background check.

Preferred Skills:

Strong understanding of environmental permitting, compliance programs, and emerging remediation technologies.

Budgeting and project financial management experience.

Familiarity with client and subcontractor negotiations.

Ability to travel to project sites as needed.
