Position Title: CATV Maintenance Technician

We are looking for a skilled CATV Maintenance Technician to perform routine and preventative maintenance on our CATV feeder/distribution and trunk systems to ensure optimal system performance. This role involves working on the cable system, up to the headend, and fulfilling all duties of a Service Technician when required. As a Maintenance Technician, you will be expected to perform tasks such as signal egress/ingress detection, sweep alignment, system balancing, troubleshooting, and emergency restoration of signal outages.
You will also serve as an on-call technician, audit the system, and terminate unauthorized connections while adhering to company policies and standards.
Perform routine and preventative maintenance on CATV feeder, distribution, and trunk systems to meet performance standards.
Complete work assignments from subscriber service requests, technician follow-up requests, and supervisor assignments, including signal detection, troubleshooting, and system balance.
Perform signal egress/ingress detection and correct faults using appropriate equipment (signal level meter, volt-ohm meter, cable locator, etc.).
Troubleshoot, repair, or replace passive and active components to maintain system standards and ensure proper signal levels and picture quality.
Serve as an on-call technician, responding to emergency restoration needs for signal outages.
Assist with system balance and participate in sweep operations to ensure proper system performance.
Maintain a daily log of activities and corrective actions taken, ensuring adherence to company procedures.
Conduct test point measurements to ensure compliance with local, state, federal, and company standards.
Audit the system and terminate unauthorized connections as part of system security.
Perform preliminary proofs when activating new plant equipment as required.
Provide excellent customer service, effectively communicating with customers regarding reception problems and services.
Work independently under minimal supervision, adhering to company procedures and goals.
Maintain a professional and friendly demeanor when interacting with customers and colleagues.
Regularly inform your supervisor of any issues, updates, or challenges.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Valid state driver's license with an excellent driving record.
A minimum of 5 years of CATV experience.
Certification in pole climbing and use of a bucket truck.
Proficiency in using technical equipment such as:
Signal level meter
Volt-ohm meter
Cable locator
Egress monitoring devices
AC clamp meter
Television test set
Spectrum analyzer
Basic time-domain reflectometer
System maps and sweep gear
Ability to apply technical expertise to diagnose and solve problems.
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with customers and colleagues.
Strong problem-solving skills and ability to provide optimal solutions in a timely manner.
Friendly, patient, and customer-oriented demeanor.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining high standards.
Previous experience working with high-volume CATV systems.
Familiarity with industry-specific standards and regulations.
Ability to work in diverse weather conditions and challenging environments.
Strong understanding of signal quality issues and how to resolve them.
Ability to climb poles and work at heights using bucket trucks.
Ability to lift and carry tools and equipment up to [weight requirement].
