JOB SUMMARY:
Under direction from the controller, the payroll administrator oversees the preparation, accuracy and timeliness of payroll services. The payroll administrator is responsible for monitoring all tasks necessary to prepare efficient and accurate payrolls in ADP, in accordance with state and federal agencies. Responsibilities include oversight of ADP's modules for benefit administration and Affordable Care Act (ACA) compliance. The payroll administrator works closely with the payroll clerk and human resource department.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Has primary responsibility for knowing and understanding the programming of company's ADP payroll system and related ADP benefits and ACA modules. Works with ADP to develop new programming when necessary.Directs the collection, calculation, and entering of data into the ADP system.
Reviews and approves changes in ADP payroll system for pay rates, exemptions, benefit coverages, direct deposit deductions, job titles, and department/ division transfers, etc., to ensure an efficient and accurate bi-weekly payroll.Ensures the processing of new hires and terminations in the ADP system is accurate and timely.Resolves payroll processing issues with ADP customer service team when necessary.Pays employees by directing the production and issuance of paychecks or electronic transfers to bank accounts.Manages the security administration of the ADP system.
Establishes any new reporting states necessary in the ADP system.
Manages the benefit plan administration module of ADP and collaborates with the human resource department on the setup of benefit plans.
Develops and documents procedures for employee self-service of benefit elections and other self-service options via the ADP website in collaboration with the human resource department.Reviews billings from insurance companies for employee benefits for accuracy and payment approval. Resolves discrepancies with carriers, in collaboration with the human resource department, when necessary.Manages year end responsibilities including preparation, verification and issuance of Forms W-2, W-3, 1094-C and 1095-C, census gathering for 401(k) plan testing purposes, and other payroll audit needs.Monitors and reviews quarterly tax reporting done by ADP.Monitors and reviews the ACA reporting within the ADP system throughout the yearCreates reports in ADP for reporting of wages, hours, deductions, etc., when necessaryManages Iowa New Jobs Training programs for Iowa income tax diversion.REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:Education/Experience. Bachelor's or associate's degree in related field. At least three years of payroll experience required. Knowledge of federal and state laws, codes, regulations and recordkeeping requirements pertaining to wage and hour laws, payroll/taxes, deductions, annual filings is required. CPP designation preferred. Experience with ADP payroll systems is preferred.Computer Skills. PC competency using Microsoft Office Products, especially strong skills in use of Excel.Language Skills. Proven written communication skills necessary. Demonstrated oral communication skills necessary for speaking to visitors, customers, employees and vendors.Mathematical Skills. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.1. Bachelor's or Associate's degree in related field.2. 3+ years of payroll experience.3.
