Network Architect

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Run clients infrastructure routers, switches, and network services

Build and maintain solutions in AWS and On-Prem for deployment, monitoring, and operations

Troubleshoot and resolve issues, perform root cause analysis

• Participate in 24x7 support as necessary
• Build, maintain and manage a reliable network for Vonage and our customers
• Strong network engineering experience managing, maintaining, and troubleshooting routers and switches in IP networks on Prem and in AWS. Juniper experience strongly preferred.
• Strong experience with routing protocols (ie: BGP, ISIS, OSPF) utilizing an MPLS environment; including design work within the Core infrastructure
• Scripting/Automation provide orchestration, automation, and configuration management using tools like Puppet, Chef, Ansible, Docker, Kubernetes; scripting using code like Perl, Expect Script, etc.
• Strong knowledge and experience with IP networking - dynamic routing, switching, monitoring, IP address management, troubleshooting
• Knowledge of best practices and experience with IT operations in an always-up, always-available service
• Accountable for managing the quarterly network capability and capacity delivery roadmaps
• Provides thought leadership and direction to peers and teams in the Information Technology organization as they review what work to prioritize in order to create new workflow and re-engineer existing capabilities to be delivered.
• Analyze all Information Technology corporate network services from a cost, capacity and forecast perspective and continually evaluate new technologies and methodologies. Provides leadership and coordination around acquisition and divestiture transactions.Provides support to ensure problems are resolved in an expedient manner.
• Serve as the subject-matter expert in product lifecycle strategy and solutions.
• Work with management and practitioners, IT staff, partners and vendors to ensure maximum utilization of all resources within area of responsibility.
• Keeps management fully informed of all activities and problems within area of responsibility.SECONDARY FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION:
• Assists in the diagnosis of people and system failures and aids in recovery. \Assist management in the handling of administrative matters by conferring with and advising co-workers regarding administrative policies and procedures.
• Develop, coordinate, and implementation of procedures to improve productivity.
• Keeps abreast of company goals, methods, and procedures and of current developments in technology and available vendor-supplied products.
• Other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS OR SPECIFICATIONS FOR THE POSITION:

• Bachelors degree or equivalent experience.
• Strong experience working with and using Linux & Windows
• Strong experience with monitoring and metrics in a DevOps environment. Jira preferred but not required.
• Experience with network security tools, firewalls and IDS/IPS
• Experience building automated deployment and configuration systems using infrastructure-as-code patterns.Experience creating and monitoring high availability, scalable, networks in AWS using EC2, Lambda, VPC, ELB, IAM, CloudFormation, and other AWS services.
• Must possess an extensive knowledge (7+ years) of network design and architecture.Must possess AWS Certified Advanced Networking
