Job Description:
The Technical Specialist is a senior level resource with specialized knowledge and experience in Java development and maintenance.
The NC Department of Information Technology (DIT) serves as the Technology Center for the State of NC. Services that DIT provides reach a client base of state and local government agencies, as well as schools, colleges, and universities.
DIT operates a statewide authentication and authorization service (NCID), an information technology system that verifies user credentials and controls access to technology resources based upon the user's credentials.
The Advanced Java Developer performs development and maintenance of customized web technologies and shell script code that supports NCID products.
Key areas of responsibility include, but are not limited to:
Maintain existing NCID application capabilities by correcting problems, testing new release functionality, and developing enhancements to the existing applications in J2EE, Java, JavaScript, HTML, XML, etc.Serve as the technical specialist and consultant by working with State agencies to integrate their application environment into NCIDSupport identity management director data store synchronization (eg: AD integration and directory roles based management)Provide critical third tier support for NCID (24x7 on-call shared responsibility) by coordinating with technical staff from other State agencies to resolve service interruptionsParticipate in business continuity and disaster recovery planning and executionExtensive technical knowledge in web-based development environments including programming techniques, application frameworks, testing, implementation, and support. Demonstrated programming experience developing and maintaining web technologies like Java, Javascript (J2EE), MyEclipse, and Eclipse using Ruby and Linux shell script code.
