The James L. Maher Center fosters independence and opportunity, promotes dignity, and advances integration in housing, employment and social engagement for people with developmental and other disabilities through customized programs designed to meet their individual needs. Our community of caring is shaped by the unique experiences, perspectives, interests and talents of more than 200 people who are sometimes challenged, but never defined, by disability. Together, we enrich life on Aquidneck Island and throughout Rhode Island East Bay . Maher Center people volunteer at dozens of other nonprofit organizations, work at businesses and organizations throughout our community, and engage in an array of creative pursuits and recreational and social activities. Our participants are supported by an interdisciplinary team of Maher Center professionals, by family and friends - and by our amazing, extended Maher Center family of generous donors and volunteers. Together, we live life to its fullest. And build a more inclusive world. |
